Damac Row II

The sister scheme on a plot nearly twice the width, where the extra dimension changes the strategy rather than simply enlarging it. Where Damac Row I had to stack its outdoor space, here the ground floor can afford to give some away: the upper volume cantilevers forward over a recessed entrance to form a covered arrival court, lit from a deep soffit. The house reads as a solid mass held above an open base — the opposite emphasis to its neighbour, from the same kit of parts. Glass balustrades keep the terraces open to the street, and the palette of white render, dark frames and warm timber is carried across deliberately, so the two developments read as one family without repeating a plan.
