Saih Residence II

The house is deliberately two-faced. To the street it presents a controlled, near-symmetrical white front: a recessed central bay holding a tall timber door, deep first-floor terraces set either side, and a run of slender fin columns turning the corner to give the flat facade depth and a shadow line that moves through the day. To the garden it does the opposite and dissolves. The ground floor opens completely onto the pool terrace, the first floor pushes forward as a pair of glazed volumes that shade the deck beneath them, and the roof steps back to a pergola-covered terrace above. What holds the two faces together is the whiteness — there is no material change anywhere, so the whole composition is read through depth, shadow and the sequence of setbacks alone.
